Requirements for marriage between two Mexican
citizens
- Photocopy of identification documents
for 4 witnesses, all above the age of 18, and of Mexican citizenship (two
for the bride and two for the groom)
- Original and photocopy of the bride and
groom’s birth certificates
- Prenuptial Medical
analysis performed by a certified laboratory or physician, signed by the
medic, and stamped by the lab. Must include HIV test and test for
hereditary or incurable diseases as well as blood type test. (Only valid
for 15 days after the tests)
- Photocopy of ID of the bride and the
groom.
- Photocopy of proof of military service.
- If either party is a widow (er) or
divorcee, he or she must include a certified copy of either the past
spouse’s death certificate, or the divorce record.
- If either part is under 18, he or she
must have photocopies of both of his/her parent’s ID, and both must be
present; or a marriage permit bestowed by the Municipal government.
- Marriage request form correctly filled
and signed by both.
- Payment of corresponding fees.
Requirements for marriage between Mexican and
Foreign citizen
- Two witnesses must bring official
identifications and a photocopy of such ID.
- Prenuptial Medical analysis
performed by a certified laboratory or physician, signed by the medic, and
stamped by the lab. Must include HIV test and test for hereditary or
incurable diseases as well as blood type test. (Only valid for 15 days
after the tests)
- Original and a photocopy of birth
certificate of both bride and groom.
- An original and a photocopy of the foreigner’s
birth certificate translated to Spanish by an approved translator.
- An accord expressing which type of
marriage is desired: conjugal partnership or asset separation.
- Original and a photocopy of the
Mexican’s identification, and the foreigner’s passport and a photocopy of
it.
- Permit from the Immigration Office of
the Secretaría de Gobernación allowing the marriage between a Mexican and
a foreigner.
- Payment of corresponding fees.
Requirements for marriage between two foreign citizens
Two weekdays prior to the wedding, both parties
must present:
- Original and a photocopy of the
identifications of two witnesses. Both must also provide their age,
address, nationality, occupation and kinship.
- Wedding request form, filled and signed.
- An accord expressing which type of
marriage is desired: conjugal partnership or asset separation.
- "Tourist card" that was given
to you upon entering Mexico at customs and immigration.
- Original and a photocopy of birth
certificate of both bride and groom.
- Prenuptial Medical analysis
performed by a certified laboratory or physician, signed by the medic, and
stamped by the lab. Must include HIV test and test for hereditary or
incurable diseases as well as blood type test. (Only valid for 15 days
after the tests)
- Original and photocopy of both
passports.
- If either party is a widow(er) or
